The award winning Elsecar Heritage Centre is an exciting History and Craft Centre, set in the attractive conservation village of Elsecar and surrounded by beautiful South Yorkshire countryside. The Centre is located within the former ironworks and colliery workshops of the Earls Fitzwilliam, where visitors can explore the attractively restored buildings and monuments, wander alonside the Dearne and Dove Canal and follow footpaths including a branch of the Trans-Pennine Trail.
The Heritage Centre is on the site of industrial workshops, originally owned by the local Earls Fitzwilliam, which date from the early 1800's.

Living History Centre
Relive 200 years of Elsecar's past through an absorbing display of memorabilia. Let your senses be triggered by items and objects, scents and smells, images and memories of a working community.
Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10.30am to 4.30pm (Last admissions 4pm), Entry, Adults £1.50 OAP/Children £1.

The Newcomen Beam Engine
The only Newcomen type engine, world wide, to remain in its original location, a unique monument to the industrial age. Guided group tours available upon request.

Building 21 - Multi-Purpose Event Venue
B21 is our popular indoor exhibition hall, which is available for hire. Offering 12,000 square feet of display space and modern facilities, it is an ideal venue for stage performances, fairs, product launches, shows and conferences.

Craft Workshops
Elsecar's vast array of working crafts people offer a very special shopping experience for all visitors.

Special Events
In addition to the permanent attractions Elsecar hosts a comprehensive year round schedule of events, including themed children's activities, garden displays and vintage vehicle shows. Please ring for further details and an event leaflet.

Hot Metal Press
A unique working collection of typesetting equipment and letterpress printing machines, some of which are 'hands-on'. Introduce children to life before the computer age.

Brambles Tea Rooms:
Whatever the weather, to complete your visit to Elsecar drop in at Brambles for lunch or afternoon tea, and try their selection of home-made cakes, a warming hot chocolate or traditional dairy ice cream.
